August 2019 Newsletter

View other Newsletter's via pdf We are into the second month of the new Lions year. Dues are payable and if you have not already taken care of this, we would appreciate them. The club has received the billing from both the District and International for 6 months. For your information each regular member is charged $13.00 from the District plus a $.50 convention tax and $21.50 from International = $35.00. The 2 family members are billed $10.50 and $10.75 ea = $21.25. The club charges $33.00 per regular member and $24.50 for the one regular family member and the 1 regular and 1 family affiliate members pay $37.50 each for the 6 months. We are billed $560 and collect $561.50 if everyone pays.

The car show is our next project. We NEED lots of hands on Aug 24th, tagging the sponsor's gifts for the drawings, working in the tent coordinating the drawings, at the registration table, conducting the 50/50 raffle and traffic director for photos and parking. Sponsors are being contacted, but if you know of someone who would “like” to make a donation as a sponsor – grab them. Deano's on the Road will have their food wagon again this year.

The can/bottle drive was an apparent success. I know we have turned in over $325 in cans/bottles. I don't have the information on what the other members have recycled. I know 3,250 were a lot of cans to “poke” in the machine. This project was a benefit drive for the Destination Imagination club from school. The members were on hand during the collection to help detab the cans. We wish them good luck this year.

The club also decided to assist with the community blood bank at the United Methodist Church on Aug 9th. Will have a report on this venture at the meeting.

The Governor's newsletter has been forwarded to you. Note the many activities that are sponsored by the various clubs in the District. Fun times and you are helping club projects.
